I'm very pleased and honored to announce that my chapbook Before Noon has been recognized a semi-finalist in the Finishing Line Press New Women's Voices Chapbook Competition and has been accepted for publication.
I feel great gratitude toward the editors at Finishing Line for this recognition and affirmation that my work as a poet is moving in the right direction.
I've been rising early (sometimes before 5am) for a few months now to read and write poetry, even briefly, before beginning my day job and parenting duties. And each day feeds my determination to continue on this path. I seem to be blooming later than I'd wanted to, but I've also been quoting George Eliot all week: "It's never too late to be what you might have been." So, onward!
Now the process that I've been longing to be a part of for years starts. Compiling the manuscript, arranging for cover art, a poet's photograph, soliciting endorsement blurbs. Post cards will go out, pre-print orders will be made, and no doubt it will be several months or more before there is a finished product. But I'll have a title to my name, and and ISBN. Thank you, Finishing Line Press!
