Habit

Although I did not get to it until the end of the day, I could not go to bed without having submitted poems to another journal.

The same is true with my writing practice. It just seemed wrong to end the day without spending time at the keyboard, regardless of how tired I was. This feels like a way of life, now. I actually woke up this morning happy because I knew the day would include time playing with the written word.

Regarding submissions: I am aiming at the hard markets with the best reputations first, and for many of them, the expected response time is two to four months. I can't help but wonder what the world will look like then.  Flooded with coronavirus poems, no doubt. I am not submitting anything about the pandemic. I think editors, and readers, will be reaching for something else come Autumn.
