100 Posts

Apparently, I have passed the 100-entry mark for this blog. As the kids might say, w00t!

One hundred in Latin is centum, and I think this is why I always expect cento poems to be very long, i.e., 100 lines.

But the word "cento" apparently means "patchwork" or "hodgepodge" or "mixture," and has nothing (?) to do with 100. In fact, it therefore has a meaning closer to that of "mélange," the sound of which makes me think of mille (1000) or a million (10,000).

All this to say that - if you'll pardon the glut of polyglot- a million cento poems would represent  mille centum verses of mélange

Perhaps I should have stopped at 99.
