The Sealey Challenge, Day Eighteen: A Tongue in the Mouth of the Dying by Laurie Ann Guerrero

This is a bold collection. Guerrero does not flinch from difficult subjects: poverty, colonization, racism, and even, heartbreakingly, infanticide. The cover is a good means for understanding the contents, actually. Something decorous but altered, something homespun but animal, wild.

know that I know the magic
of the blind; I have catalogued
your hands in my hands.
