The Sealey Challenge, Day 6: Requeening by Amanda Moore

I was given this book by a dear friend who knows the author, after she and another friend went to hear Moore read last year. (My Frustration of Poets buddies know me and care - what a gift!)

So much of this work resonates with me: poems about beekeeping, about giving birth, raising a daughter, the tricky teen years, the loss of the poet's mother - there's even a poem, as I have in my chapbook, about not wanting to kill ants. So I'm biased. Amanda Moore writes about things that matter to me. But really, she does so brilliantly. I aspire to that sort of craft and confidence - one strong piece after another in a full-length collection is rare. Brava!
