The Sealey Challenge, Day 5: Homie:Poems by Danez Smith

This book is not gentle; it's direct, and difficult - but also sweet and sometimes funny, and I feel like it showed me a whole other world that I needed to see. There's so much generosity and compassion in Smith's work, in what he shares with his readers. His language and style are unique, which means his voice is that much clearer.  I could really hear him speaking these poems to me.
